Wednesday, June 1st, 2005Hi all… Still no bone scan results but we are very, very encouraged by everything else – Sam’s appetite, energy, bowel movements (don’t laugh!), curiousity. Our appointment with the surgeon is tomorrow at noon so we hope to have a surgery date scheduled. Margot visited Sam’s kindergarten class today during an open house and really […]

Tuesday, May 31st, 2005I think we’re going to be ok. No results from the bone scan but the CT scan indicated that the tumor has shrunk another centimeter. In our book that is GREAT news and we’ll take it. We meet with the surgeon on Thursday and will review the scans and schedule surgery. Our biggest question for […]

Friday, May 27th, 2005We had scans today. We had a very rocky start. I had to lie on the CT scan table with Sammy to get him to stay still. He was hungry (he was NPO for the scans, meaning no food or water since midnight) and cranky from waking up so early and I’d conned them into […]

Sunday, May 22nd, 2005It’s been great to be out of the hospital. It’s hot in San Diego (75 at the beaches, 90’s inland) and we’re making the most of it. We have been having water fights and playing videogames with Sam being the reigning champ at Super Mario GoKart. Our scans were moved to Friday 5/27 which is […]

Thursday, May 19th, 2005We were sprung from the hospital Wednesday at noon. Sam is very happy to be home. He and Andy ran around last night in their Batman capes (Andy’s consists of a hand towel pinned to his shirt) and Sammy had Andy laughing so hard he got the hiccups. With Margot’s Aunt Anne/Uncle Don here from […]

Tuesday, May 17th, 2005We’re in the hospital since Sunday night at about 9pm. It’s a pretty routine visit – just a 101 fever which is an automatic admit when his white counts are low. We should get out of here tomorrow, Wednesday, which will be just in time for him to play with his Aunt Anne/Uncle Don who […]

Wednesday, May 11th, 2005All’s well on the homefront. Sam went to the outpatient clinic yesterday to have his blood checked. They do a CBC with differential which means they check out all aspects of his blood – red, white, & platelets. The great news is that his blood is fine so there was no need to do a […]

Monday, May 9th, 2005Sam is home – yeah! He came home Saturday and we’ve been having fun ever since. He’s a bit tired and still not eating as much as we’d like but it’s just great to have him home. Sam is a very sweet little guy and adores his mom. At the hospital on Friday, the staff […]
June 6, 2005 – Late Monday
Friday, May 6th, 2005We just prepped Sam for his big day, explaining to him that the bump in his tummy is being removed. He’s won – that’s what we’ve told him. The cute thing is that he told Margot & I that “we helped a little bit also!” And then he thanked us for helping him. Very adorable. […]

Friday, May 6th, 2005Today is Day 4 of the 4 Day chemo infusion so we are very happy. Sam will finish chemo tonight at about 6 pm and will follow with a 24-hour infusion of fluids to flush his system. Sam has been a superstar through this. He’s subsisting on a diet of buttered raisin toast and water […]
