Monday, July 25th, 2005Holy Cow. What a week. We have been through an emotional ringer. I’ll start with the good news: SAM HAS NOT RELAPSED/DOES NOT HAVE PROGRESSIVE DISEASE! There was a mix up in radiology and there was an x-ray referenced in one of the scan reports that did not exist that led everyone to believe that […]

Monday, July 18th, 2005The biopsy went well today. Sammy was up eating a sandwich ten minutes after he woke up from anesthesia He has to go easy on his leg for a couple of days but he’s not in much pain. I gave him some Tylenol tonight but I think he wanted it mostly because he likes the […]

Wednesday, July 13th, 2005A huge thanks to one of Margot’s authors, Eva Shaw, who paved the way for Sam and the others at his birthday party to have a private audience with Shamu! The SeaWorld trainer, Stephanie Glazebrook, was beyond nice and accomodating. The party was officially a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle party but I very quickly evolved […]

Tuesday, July 12th, 2005We are slightly less hysterical today. We talked to some doctors and have learned about several options that have worked very well on other kids. But that’s not the BIG NEWS 🙂 The BIG NEWS is that Sam’s birthday is TOMORROW! Our beautiful, oldest boy will be 5 years old! We will be having dinner […]

Monday, July 11th, 2005I have some funny news and some bad news. Funny news first: Sam’s buddy Johnny was over a few weeks ago. Johnny lives a few miles away so we don’t see him as often as we would like. They were sitting on the couch playing Ninja Turtle videogames and Johnny paused, looked at Sam, and […]

Tuesday, July 5th, 2005We’re still in the hospital waiting for the ANC to come back up. Still running a low-grade fever but offsetting the boredom with massive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle videogame action – Sam & I are becoming quite good as teammates! Sam is growing emotionally a bit – he now will unplug his IV pole and […]

Saturday, July 2nd, 2005We bounced back into the hospital Wednesday night with a fever. Sammy is really feeling pretty well except for some stomach pain after he eats. When he gets ativan(an anti-nausea med) he feels much better. It’s pretty funny because ativan makes him a little drunk and he becomes extremely outgoing and goofy. He’s playing lots […]

Wednesday, June 29th, 2005We have a date for stem cell transplant at the City of Hope in Duarte (near Pasadena and the Santa Anita Race Track where Seabiscuit was filmed). We’ll be admitted 7/21. The way it works is that chemo is the first 4 days and on 7/28 they do the stem cell transplant which is really […]

Friday, June 24th, 2005Sam finished his LAST BAG of chemo for San Diego last night at 9:30 pm. We are excited but don’t think we can match his excitement. He told Margot when the nurses took the bag down – “Mom, I’m done with my chemo!!!” We’re now home and looking forward to having a ton of fun. […]
