Sammy liked school yesterday. He said he made two friends besides Tanner but he can’t remember their names. He said when I picked him up “And mom, I bet your school didn’t have this” “What?” I asked. “A library,” he told me in awe. It was very cute. Today was a half day and I picked up a little late because parking is a bear. He said today was “in the middle” not bad or good. His hearing aid was beeping after I dropped him off so I had to run back to his class and try to get in further. The teacher said it beeped one other time and she readjusted it and then the last time, he just took it out. He’s only wearing one while we’re getting the other one fixed. One of these days we’ll get those things so everything goes smoothly. Tanner’s grandmother bought he and Tanner matching Power Rangers and Tanner’s mom gave it to him today. I’m always overwhelmed at how kind people are.
Anyway, all is good on the school front. Andy even said he had a good day and I had and eerily quiet work morning ;-).
We have a PETscan on Friday to confirm the findings of the January scans. There is a tiny “mass” in Sammy’s tummy that gets smaller with each scan, Dr. Bolotin said she’s 99.9% percent sure it’s scar tissue or it wouldn’t be shrinking like it is. On these last January scans it was almost undetectable, but the folks at Memorial Sloan Kettering who got a clinical summary from Dr. Bolotin at our request want us to do the extra scan and Dr. Bolotin said it’s not a bad idea to get a baseline PETscan. Ick. It’s going to suck because he has to lie still not talking for an hour during the “uptake” period (after the stuff is injected) and then he has to lie still for the scan. They are going to give him something to help relax him and hopefully put him to sleep. They said they use Ativan though and I had to tell the woman that Ativan makes him very chatty and happy and they don’t want him to talk they’ll have to use something else. He’s supposed to eat an all protein dinner the night before with no veggies, fruits, pastas, grains or anything. Ugh -that should be easy.
